Zivelo’s X-Eco digital kiosk features a solar panel to power the system without wires

Zivelo has introduced a wireless outdoor kiosk solution with an optional 200-watt solar kit, enabling out-of-home advertising with a lower carbon footprint. The X-Eco kiosk monitors local weather forecasts to assess sunlight levels and automatically adjusts power settings accordingly, and the product includes a battery powered or electrically wired back-up system for times of intermittent sunshine. A hand crank generator is also offered.

11 February 2013 – Zivelo announces the launch of the X-Eco kiosk, an energy efficient outdoor kiosk with an optional 200-Watt solar kit – allowing for a completely wireless solution that can be installed virtually anywhere.

The optional solar kit employs cutting-edge green technology, with a patented power management system that allows the X-Eco kiosk to operate solely on the power of the sun. This advanced system not only reduces overall power consumption, but also automatically adjusts power settings by predicting sunshine levels through monitoring of local weather forecasts. For areas with intermittent sunshine, battery powered or electrically wired backup systems are included in the solar kit and an optional hand crank generator eliminates the need for power and data access, making the X-Eco a power house in the outdoor kiosk market.

“The X-Eco is the apex of green self-service technology, with each kiosk deployed saving an average of 9.5 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year when compared to traditional outdoor units,” says Ziver Birg, CEO of Zivelo, “Not only do these solar kiosks eliminate electricity costs, they also offer unlimited outdoor placement options – breaking down the barriers of today’s conventional kiosk installation limitations.”

Zivelo’s introduction of the environmentally friendly X-Eco kiosk aligns with the company’s commitment to green business practices. In 2011, Zivelo announced a tree planting campaign, pledging to plant three trees for every kiosk sold to positively offset the company’s carbon footprint. Since the campaign’s launch, 11,500 trees have been planted in developing nations around the world and that number continues to rise.
